What a messy Premier League weekend!

Things are heating up in the Premier League, and the last days was a great chance for the best teams to secure their spot, or maybe climb even higher, on the Premier League table. Instead, something completely different happened.

Ole Gunnar Solskjar has been a giant success for Manchester United since he came, and he managed to win six Premier League matches in a row. If he would have won the seventh match as well, it would break the all-time records for new coaches in the Premier League. Playing against the Red Devils on Old Trafford Burnley was waiting. They have been playing well lately, but few people them to create big trouble for Manchester United. But, guess what - with five minutes left of the match, the score was 2-0... and it was not Manchester United who was in the lead.

Luckily for the Red Devils, they managed to score two goals in the last minutes (Paul Pogba on a penalty, and then Victor Lindelof scored during over-time). The end result was 2-2, but Solskjar probably knows that with a victory, they would have been at equal points with Arsenal and Chelsea (who had one match less played).

But, Manchester United was not the only team to get in trouble in the last days. On the same evening, Manchester City lost 2-1 against Newcastle. They were in the lead for a long time, but in the second half of the match, Newcastle got back at them and ended up grabbing all the three points.

Arsenal was the only top-team that did their task normally, as they won 2-1 against Cardiff (after being in the lead with 2-0 for a long time).

These matches were all played on January 29th. Then came January 30th!

First, AFC Bournemouth was lucky to be at 0-0 against Chelsea by half-time. But, in the second half, something happened, and Chelsea left the stadium with a 4-0 loss in their pockets. That must have felt embarrassing. It is not that Bournemouth is a bad team, but they are not that good either.

Liverpool only managed to play 1-1 against Leicester yesterday, while Tottenham was lucky and managed to turn around the 1-0 lead Watford had against them and turn it into a 2-1 victory (they scored twice within the last ten minutes of the match). I guess they are happy about having their South Korean hero (and goal-getter) Son Heung-min back from the Asian Cup (where South Korea was beaten out of the tournament already in the quarter-final). But, South Korea wasn't the only surprise here, as Australia and Iran also left the tournament much earlier than expected.

But, considering the last two days, we must say that the heat is turning up in the Premier League and the interest is booming. Will Manchester United manage to get in among the top four teams that will secure them a spot in the Champions League next year? Can Manchester City get back on Liverpool and give them a battle for the Premier League trophy in 2019?
