What will happen with the European Championship in football in 2020?

I have been looking forward to the European Championship in football for a long time. But, are we at risk of seeing it canceled due to the Coronavirus?

Today, I have seen several topics dealing with the Coronavirus, and whether or not it might cause the Summer Olympics in 2020 to be canceled. Well, I definitely hope that will not happen. I am not an expert at this, but I have also read that the Coronavirus is as dangerous as the normal flu... or maybe, it isn't more harmful than the normal flu. The people dying from the virus are those already sick or living with a weak immune system. Should we cancel a European Championship in football or a Summer Olympics because of that?

It is such a hard topic because human life is the most important thing. But, we would never cancel the Olympics because of the annual flu. But, what makes the Coronavirus different? I am not the person to judge that, so I will rather leave that to the professionals.

the coronavirus and the european championship in football

But, I have got to say, that I really hope there will be a European Championship in football this summer. Not only because I love football, but because I have a strong hope that we might see the Norwegians in the tournament, and maybe also the Hungarians. Of course, both Norway and Hungary will need to win the two play-off matches first (to be played on March 26th and March 31st), but if they do - we will see both nations in the tournament.

Hungary will play against Bulgaria on March 26th (in Bulgaria). That is a tough match, and I have my doubts about whether or not Hungary will succeed there. If they do, they will play against the winner of Romania vs Iceland match in Budapest on March 31st.

Norway will play against Serbia on March 26th. There will be a lot of interest in this match, not because of Norway or Serbia, but because the world is really curious to see if Erling Braut Haaland can score his first goal for the Norwegian national team. We don't even know if he will start the match, but the audience will for sure hope he will be there among the starting 11 people. But, he is not the only successful Norwegian striker. Let us not forget about Alexander Sorloth who plays for Trabzonspor in Turkey. His team is leading the Superliga in Turkey, and Alexander is the player who has scored the most goals in the league so far.

Joshua King has been the main striker for Norway in the last years, and he has done so extremely well. But, he hasn't scored many goals for Bournemouth this year and competing with Alexander Sorloth and Erling Haaland, I do have my doubts about whether or not he will start the match.

If Norway can beat Serbia on March 26th, they will play against the winner of the match between Scotland and Israel in Oslo on March 31st.

If Norway get to the European Championship

If the Norwegian will make it all the way to the European Championship, they will end up in a group consisting of the Czech Republic, England, and Croatia. A tough group, but not at all an impossible group!

If Hungary makes it to the European Championship

If Hungary makes it to the European Championship, they will play against Portugal, France, and Germany. If there is such a thing as an impossible group, this is most likely it!

Now the only question that remains is whether or not the tournament will be held, or if it will be canceled because of the coronavirus.

What do you think? Should such a tournament be canceled because of a virus like the coronavirus?
